The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposes to "strengthen urban infrastructure construction, create livable, resilient, and smart cities", and "accelerate the development of the digital economy, and promote the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy"; The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council have issued the "Overall Layout Plan for the Construction of Digital China", which points out the construction of a green and intelligent digital ecological civilization, promoting intelligent governance of the ecological environment, accelerating the construction of a smart and efficient ecological environment information system, and using digital technology to promote the integrated protection and systematic governance of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and sands; The Opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on the Complete, Accurate, and Comprehensive Implementation of the New Development Concept to Achieve Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality, propose to promote low-carbon transformation of urban and rural construction and management models, and comprehensively implement green and low-carbon requirements in all aspects of urban and rural planning, construction, and management.
The water system is an important component of smart cities, which is of great significance in ensuring the safety of urban water supply and drainage, improving the efficiency of water environment governance, accelerating water ecological restoration, enhancing the value of water culture, and developing urban digital economy. At the same time, in the context of China’s "double carbon" strategy, with the rapid integration of cloud computing, the Internet of Things, mobile Internet and other new rounds of information technology with multiple industries, intelligence has become the main theme of China's scientific and technological development and ecological civilization construction, and digital transformation of various industries has become the trend.
In order to learn and master the advanced concepts, scientific methods, technical means and future development direction of the planning, design and construction process of smart city water system, and better serve the national strategy of digitalization, intelligent transformation and high-quality development of urban water system, Environmental Engineering will publish the special topic of " Water System for Smart City" in the 7th issue of 2023, and specially invite Professor Wang Aijie of Harbin Institute of Technology to serve as the chief editor of the special topic.
